All my bikes have the lines running under the bike with no filter. No mess and no problems. Stuck a filter on the end of the hose once, clogged up from oil and road debris in and blew the hoses off up by the air cleaner. Would not suggest unless checking it religiously. This occurred after a few hundred miles.

Thanks. I’m just letting the hose hang without a filter. I don’t have the Trask vented cover but I do have A1 Cycles vented dipstick_

If you use a PCV type breather like Trask CheckM8, or make your own by retrofitting a PCV check valve into the existing crankcase cover, it won't suck air, moisture, and dirt into the sump. Without a check valve, it will when the pistons both go up. So a check valve is a must.
the umbrella valve in your breathers inside the rocker boxes is a check valve. Adding another check valve down stream is redundant. Adding a filter to the end of the hose is nothing more than a leaky catch can

It's not redundant when they work better. Automotive pcv valves do not and won't last long. The umbrella valves leave a lot to be desired as one way valves. Especially over time and at higher rpms. Reed valves work way better.
