Talking Dumb question but here goes!!!

I am trying to find alternatives for two parts (by the way, they are screws). I know the part numbers but buying them from HD is stupid expensive. I was hoping this group could help me find the alternative part/screw so I don't have to spend a ridiculous amount of money to replace them.

The parts are: 10500008 and 1062

The clutch cover screws are fine but tried to replace the stock derby cover with a Barnett Clear Derby cover and the current screws are just a bit too short to catch. Any ideas on what the next size up should be?

I literally went through the parts catalog and there isn't a good description on either part or any way to get guidance on replacement.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Go to Lowes... the stockers are 1/4”-20 x 5/8”. Get the stainless ones.

If you take the old screws to a hardware store or home depot or something you can go to the screw section and match the thread on the gage that they will have in that section. Then just match the length that you need. My recommendation is to buy Stainless screws so they do not rust. Since you do not know the grade screw that HD uses, buy the best screws you can get so you know they are strong enough. I do not think that there is much pressure on the Derby Cover, however I could be wrong on that part. Good luck.

Don't know where you get them, but 12 point ones look good. I'd use anti seize with stainless, but probably not a big deal

Like others have said go to a hardware store, I like to use ACE/Westlake hardware, they seem to have a good selection, you can get chrome or stainless steel at ACE/Westlake hardware.

Agree with all above. I use stainless on a lot of the fasteners. Plus when I buy a couple fasteners, I will usually buy some extra.... a pack of screws/nuts, or grab several extra. I have some containers on my bench for nuts, bolts, screws, washers. etc...... It's nice to have a few extra in case you need something else.
General rule of thumb..... most common fasteners are a grade 2 or 3. These are fine for your covers, derby covers, switch mounts, etc. And these, for me, are usually in the 1/4" range and smaller. No markings on the heads of cap screws.
Grade 5 is the next step up. These are stronger and are better used for those items that you want to make sure stay fastened and won't come off or break. These have
Grade 8 is the highest grade you can typically buy at hardware stores. Use these for suspension, engine mounts, heavier applications where you need strength.
The hardware stores should have gages/measuring tools. The attachment below should help to understand which grade is which.
Enjoy
