Default Heat deflectors

There are 2 heat deflectors, on each side of my bike
are they there for the passenger or the rider or both?

My ultra is solo only and I wonder if removing them would help cool the motor without burning my leg off.

My neighbor told me his wife complained about the heat from the engine when she sat in the back. Once he put the heat deflectors, never heard complaint from his wife. Definitely for the passenger but could be for the rider as well.

Some had suggested removing the left side deflector. The theory is the right side deflector now acts like an air scoop with the hot air going out the unobstructed left side.

Went for a ride yesterday in 95 degree heat. Wife was complaining about heat on her right ankle. Tink I'll try this and see what it does. My luck, then she'll have heat on her left ankle area, or, both.

This tread reminded me that removing the LH mid-frame heat deflector is something I wanted to do...so now it's done!

Remove the cat if you have not done so already. Makes a big differance.

if I remove the cat do I need to have bike tuned? I just got a 2022 ultra limited and the heat in that area is very high so looking to replace head pipe.

For rider/passenger comfort the CoolFlow fan can't be beat. Pricey but worth it.

I gotta agree with the cool flow fan as I installed one not too long ago and maybe it’s in my mind but it really seems to make a difference in traffic! And while I’m not affiliated, there is one in the classifieds from a seller I’ve dealt with recently with very positive results!
