Exclamation 2000 mile service?

So I went a thousand over and need to get my service done on my 2021 Street Glide FLHX. Oops, I take it about 70 miles each way southeast to Cape Cod from Boston every weekend and haven't wanted to miss those rides especially in the midst of summer.

My question is this? How bad is this and would it be detrimental to maybe push it to like 2500 miles?

I noticed after the first oil change gets done, it bumps up to every 5000 miles, am I mistreating my baby? And is it OK?

Also, thinking of taking it to my local bike shop rather than my HD dealer, it's like $200 cheaper and supposedly they are good.

It's going to explode.

It's like a hundred bucks to do it yourself....takes 30 minutes.

I know the oil change is pretty easy but what else do they drain and refill. Then there's the matter of torquing everything to the proper specs, right?

If it's anything like our dealer, they offer different options. We use a menu system. You want a 1k, 5k, 25k, etc. mile service? Okay, here's what we do and this is what you'll be charged for those operations. You just want your oil and filter changed? Okay, we'll do that and it's $XX.XX. Check with your dealer and ask them what they offer.

You should actually sit down and read the Owner's Manual.

The torque wrench is a one time purchase....worth it.

You can find a hundred video's on YouTube showing just how to service the fluids in the engine, transmission and primary. Buying the required tools will save you many dollars in the future.

There is no 2,000 mile service. The first is 1,000 then 5,000 forever after. IMHO, get the first 2 services at a dealer.

You said your local bike shop was good, have them do it or do it yourself. Screw the dealer.

I personally, as much as I don’t like them, would let dealer have the first shot. Just in case some warranty BS comes up and they try and worm their slime asses out of it because you got your service from joe mechanic. Afterwards, then either let joe have it or do it yourself.
