Default What to inspect with derby cover off

Doing the first oil change on my bike. While the derby cover is off What should I inspect and what to look for?

The outer clutch basket cover and nuts pretty much take up all of that opening. The primary chain tensioner is self adjusting so not much to check there. You might get a finger on that chain for any loose tension but it should be normal/ slight movement. Best to look for anything large or foreign metal like in oil or on magnetic drain plug. Service manual may offer something else.

Good luck.

Unless something is obviously jacked up you can't see much. However, as long as the cover is off, take a sniff. A problem with the charging system could smell like burnt plastic.
