Hello

I bought a new road king standard and added a passenger backrest and luggage rack. Also installed the 4 point docking system for easy removal.

For some reason they won't snap on and lock to secure the seat and rack. The dealer put it on and when I got it home it was so tight I couldn't get it off the bike. Finally I got it off but it wouldn't go back on. It's very very cold here and wondering if that is the problem.

I've had two other Harley's before and have never had a problem with the quick release attachable backrest or rack.

I will take it back to the dealership but wanted to hear any suggestions to make sure I'm hearing the same information from them as others that have had problems.

Simple , get the manager service manager and (factory trained mechanic?) together , Ask them if they would pay for that , let them fix it and never give that location another cent !
For sure you weren't the first , you wont be the last ,
That is of cores presuming you paid for parts and installation ,

 

The docking points are elliptical shaped, and can be rotated for a tight/loose fit.

FWIW, my passenger backrest was difficult to attach/detach at first (even on the loosest adjustment). After a dozen or so attach/detachments it became much easier.
