Default Hard Saddle bag lock stuck

I have a 2007 EGC and one of my saddle bag locks is stuck in the locked position. My key works on the ignition, tour pack and other saddle bag. I had to tap the key into the lock but it still does not turn. Harley dealer told me they can not help since they don't have the tool, also called a couple locksmiths and no luck with them. I have sprayed wd-40 in it a few times. Would it be easier for me to just drill out the center of the lock or does someone have a better solution.

I recall many years ago when those cylindrical locks first came out they were immediately rubbished, as they could so easily be 'picked' by using the barrel of a Bic pen (or something similarly cheap, simple and widely available). I hope and assume that since then they have been made to be less easily to be defeated. I have opened on older flat-key lock with a hammer and screw-driver, but a drill may well be more appropriate in your case.

Can't believe the dealer couldn't help...

I had one go bad on my '09 FLHX, but it literally fell apart vs. froze. I'd keep trying to pick it open, but drill it out, if you can w/o additional damage. Yes, they are cheap/junk, but necessary (unfortunately). Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I started drilling then decided to pry the side up so I could get to the nut on the lock and with a thin 7/16" open end wrench slowly got the nut off and the lid open. Now I still need a new lock.

Well done - right will eventually triumph! All you need is your key code, which should enable you to get a matching lock. You may have to buy a pair, but its a very long time since I did this to the earlier flat key type.

Thank you so much for the spot on advice nobody else seemed to have.... my 2003 EG saddle bag lock went bad and a 7/16" open end ,box ignition wrench did the job.
