Something doesn’t look right with that tire. I’ve run 2 sets on my Ultra and 2 sets on the wife’s Deluxe and have never had problems with them. Current set on the Ultra were made in Thailand. Seems like 15k to 20k is the normal mileage for our bikes. Good luck (Luke) getting I replaced

I've run three sets of Michelin Commander II tires. I have seen those static strip lines in each set. Never had an issue. Only gripe I have is that I've never had a pair go past 10,000 miles. Best I get is 8,000 to 8,500 miles. My bike a 2010 FatBoyLo is mostly rode by me alone and on reasonably good paved roads. Always changed the tires as a set. I have run the rear right down to chords about to show. But not beyond that. Always kept the pressure at 42 rear and 38 front. Rear has in each case gone center bald by the time 8,000 miles roles up.
So are most of you like me and this is about normal. After all this bike is slightly heavier than factory stock and with me sitting on it I figure 1,000 to 1,075 Lbs. Anyone know certain of a better wearing tire?

I run them and have 15k on mine right now and nothing like that on mine. Running on a 2011 Road Glide Ultra and just me riding...

Granted, not all bikes are the same but the total weight of my Springer and me on it is around 950lbs, so it's close to the total; weight that you have. One thing that I'v e learned how to do over the years, besides watching my tire pressure is also watching my wear pattern. By doing that, I've been able to get more miles out of a set of tires than just going by tire pressure only and that's also based on how I ride. I'm on my 3rd set of MC 2's and going by my methods of watching tire wear, I've gotten more bang for my buck than any other tire that I've tried.

Springer. Thanks. So where do you start out with tire pressure ? A couple of PSI lower in the rear? I can envision a lower pressure causing the tread face to have more contact with the road surface. Not holding you to anything. But I would simply like to get more miles out of these skins. I do like everything else about them though.

No problemo, I'll tell ya what I do. I look at the max cold psi and deducted around 10% and go from there. Example: my rear calls for 42, I believe, so I run around 38. Now this method works on my Springer but no guarantee that it will work on other models but it's what has worked for me over the past several years. I might also add that I ride solo, no passenger.

They will last better with more air, they don't get as hot. Down shifts will wear it faster. I'm running 45 refill when gets to 42. I ride two up most the time and get probably twice that. I run till tread is almost gone to just gone in the center, they start wearing fast at this point. It's just not worth it to push any further.

Ride like a pro says at least 40psi.

xcbullet;
Thanks; But I'm going to try Springers method. For my wear it would be counteractive to go higher pressure. Especially with already going bald at the high point stiff wear band around the tire center and at the same time, plenty of tread depth left and right of center. My scoot calls for 42 PSI. I'll try 38 and come up from there if I detect tire heat or a handling issue. May lower front from recommended 38 to 36. My rides consist of mainly steady highway runs. Seldom down shift except for small children and roadside towns. See how it all goes.
