Okay so I ordered the adapter to put a 38mm cv carb on my 1972 ironhead. I just ordered this mikuni carb off eBay. I’m going to need to rebuild it. Would the rebuild kit pictures be correct? If not can someone point me in the right direction? This will be my first carb rebuild and we haven’t covered this in school yet.
I would look for a model number, or some type of identifier, on the carb you bought. Also, the one you bought is a round slide, the HSR 38 you reference is a flat slide.
not much to go wrong. been running on on my 74ch since 1975. if all the metal parts are not worn or missing, about the only thing that wears is the bowl inlet needle/seat which you can usually find at a jap bike shop. http://www.mikunipower.com/VM01.htm
setup
pilot jet 30
needle jet q2
main jet 330
needle 6dp1
idle screw 1.5 turns
needle e-clip #3 groove
slide 2.5
this is how the branch flometric set i bought came, depending on what you have, may have to adjust
one point is there are two styles of main jets, make sure you order the right ones, easy to find at local shops or jets-r-us
