New to the site and doing upgrades. I am purchasing Rinehart slip ons for my 97 electra glide classic with f/i. Do i need to tune the ecm for the new mufflers?
Generally you can get away with baffled slip-ons without re-tuning. That's assuming that you're NOT doing air cleaner changes or modifications that bring in more air. Typically you might get some driveability annoyances, like the odd downshift pop, but normally installing slip-ons doesn't change much but the sound.
Everything I've been told is that there's three parts to your breathing: air cleaner, headers, mufflers. Change one of them and the system will adapt, change two and the system *might* adapt, change all three and the system *won't* adapt and you'll need a retune/new brain box.
