Default Switch

Anyone have any idea how these switches come apart? Took all the screws out but they don't separate. Wires are also too short to slide the whole grip and switch off. I believe these are 70's style controls. Any help is appreciated.
Trying to switch my grips out.

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your first post. What does your service manual have to say?

Did you take out the 2 Allen screws in the bottom? Or just re-installed? Also, try loosening, or just removing the master cylinder clamp/assembly, not sure on this one, but newer ones can make it difficult to take switch housings apart.

I don't know which bike you have but on a bike with no fairing first thing to remove is the mirror and brake master. Follow the wiring down to the 'trees' and you'll probably find slack tied up down there. You should be able to get the controls off with the extra slack and not have to bother with separating the switches...b.

Yes I took the Allen screws out and it won't come apart. Didn't try to loosen master cyclinder but it is separate from the switches.

I will see if there is slack in the wiring down below. The wires are run in the bars. I couldn't pull slack from up top but I'll try down below.

I'm not familiar with that switch particular switch but many times you need to slacken the throttle cables and pull the bottom down to get it a part.

once the screws are removed from the bottom, the housing halves should separate. once open, there is a screw with a bar that holds the switches to the housing. might have to give it a love tap.
would post jpeg but photobucket screwed us and i seem to not be able to get imgur working.
