Default Throttle Cable Spring??

Hello all,

Sorry if this is in the wrong area or my search-ability, I cannot find the answer.

Lately I noticed a catching in the throttle cable. It is intermittent and I dug into the setup and found a small spring that has come out of the throttle cable housing and is riding on the metal cable. Has anyone seen this before? Can I just remove it completely?

Is this spring on the intake end of the cable? If so, it should go into the throttle cable housing on your carb/induction module. Push the cable, with spring, into the housing they end at.

The return cable has a spring on the end..It's supposed to be there. You may have too much throttle slack and the cables are simply re-seating in the sockets.

If you are starting to get a catching feeling when opening the throttle, the pull side cable might be fraying.. Places to check are at the cable ends, both carb/throttle body and at the grip.. If you see any loose strands replace the cable. Lube them while you are in there.

If it's a catch feeling when rolling off the throttle, it's likely the cruise control cut off switch and they all do it to some extent.
