Default Works Performance softail shocks

I'm new to this forum not sure this is the correct place to post this. Before joining I searched Google for any information on Works Performance shocks. Every thread turns into a Progressive shock talk. Well I am 255lbs and I installed a set of Works shocks with the HD dual rate spring. My bike is completely slammed and she doesn't bottom out, she is very stiff but not ridged. I wasn't as concerned about comfort as I was about performance. That being said they perform exactly like they should and do what they are supposed to do. Another great feature with these shocks is they are a 1 time upgrade, send them in and they are fully rebuildable for less than $100. I'm not saying they are better than Progressive shocks, I do run Progressive on my Dyna but a softail is a completely different beast when it comes to rear suspension. I realize this is not real tech info, just wanted to share my experience so far with Works performance softail adjustable shocks. They are a big investment for sure, every site says you get what you pay for so...

I`m another fan of the Works Performance stuff, I`ve had a set on my `89 Softail for about 10 years now, still working good.

The fact that the shocks can be rebuilt at a reasonable price is what sold me on Works.

Rigidsport: What year is that Softail (earlier than `87 I can tell from the pic)?

Works are the some of the best shock you can get for a softail.. I've been through 2 sets of progressive 422s and they sucked.. On most shocks compression damping is much lighter than rebound.. Softail shocks work in reverse. The compress to on wheel rebound and extend on suspension compression. The shock feel like they forgot to reverse the damping between compression and rebound.

I bought some works off Fleebay for a Bigdog.. They worked like a softail shock should.. Still have them..
