Looking for suggestions on a DIY or affordable but sturdy "stand" for my bike. 08 touring bike, I would like suggestions on an affordable but sturdy ( I know, those twp discriptions usually don't go well together) purchasable stand or suggestions on something I can build myself. I'd like to be able to position my bike upright when I do work on it. Strongly considering installing a detach kit for the tour-pak and would like the bike upright, leve and sturdy during this project.
Thanks in advance for info.

f all you want to do is stand up right and don't need to lift more than 1" off the ground then go to ebay or Amazon and look for a stand that you put under bike and pull back a lever , it straightens bike up right and lifts front or rear appox 1"
I have my Tour Glide up on one now just to check fluids ( great Tool )
$36

I have a craftsman jack. works well.... I can place the jack under and raise enough to keep it upright. I bought the harbor freight black chock...it had the rocker to hold the front wheel in. Worked ok for the Sportster, but trying to pull the Street Glide out was a different story. Broke down and bought the WheelDock. Expensive but roll in and roll out. No pulling/tugging the wheel up and over a rocker.
Depending on your true desire, spend the extra money for quality. Get a good chock or, at the minimum, craftsman jack.
