Default Is torquing bolts scary to you?

When working on bike or car I torque everything to spec. But when I am torquing bolts it fells like they are going to strip, it never does, and my torque wenches are right on the money. So I think it is just me being paranoid. I was wondering if anybody else fell this way when torquing bolts.

I'm the opposite, proper torque always feels like not enough.

Inch pounds can be scary. Went way over one time not hearing click. Its still finesse and craftsmanship that rule the day.

I use snap on torque angle wrenches and do everything to spec. Anytime I work on a bike the owners life is in my hands. Take no chances

Rebuild a Diesel engine and the torque values we deal with are nothing....

paying attention and not rushing are the key.

Spark plugs and exhaust bolts seem to get my attention. Usually take them down in steps.

The Exorcist was scary.

I use click type torque wrenches and don't find them to be scary. They are just tools.

Yea, it is that "crush washer" that feels weird!

I use a beam type torque wrench - missed the click once on a click type and made a hellofalot of extra work!!! - and you can usually feel when a fastener is about to let go. If you aren't at rated torque and it starts getting easier to turn, it is time to figure out what's wrong.
