I speak from experience. My biggest lesson was learning the difference between inch pounds and foot pounds. Learned that lesson the hard way. RTFM!!!

Torquing fasteners is scary? Nope. Using torque wrenches that have not been tested and certified within tolerance by a metrology lab is kinda scary though.
I'm just as guilty as the next guy. I have several at home that I just assume are correct. The ones I use at work are Snap-On and are checked every 90 days. Occasionally one will be so far out of tolerance it gets replaced.
So how does everyone know that the ones they have out in the garage are accurate?

Actually I use anti seize more.
You do have to lower tq vales when you put something on threads.
Sometimes it feels like I am going to break it with the wrench, other times I find it is already to tight. I suppose this is the purpose of a tq wrench.

I have had more stuck bolts then loose. I only use it where the manual calls for it. If something does loosen I might.
I clean the threads with a pick or thumbnail when I do. Someday will get thread chaser.
I need to get loctite primer.
Also use on stainless so it doesn't gall.I use it on lots of stuff in general.
