ABS plastic does not like the cold, not sure what temps have been in your area. If your a cold weather rider it may be possible the fracturing had started in the cold, unfortunately it is not as durable as fiberglass. Hope this never happens to anyone with a passenger.
No evidence of fraying. Just a straight break.
I do ride year round. In January and February the temps are usually in the 20's.
The idea about the cold is good. Maybe I will take it off next winter.
Thanks
So final page for now. Sent Harley Davidson customer care pics of the tour pak. All they cared about was letting me know it wasn't a warranty item. One individual told me something had to have hit the tour pak though I told that nothing had. It is interesting how they totally missed the point. It really wasn't about the tour pak. It was about trying to understand how something like this could have happened. I was hoping that someone at Harley could have looked at this and help me figure out what happened so I could be sure it didn't happen again. If I had been two up, somebody could have gotten hurt. Anyway, spring is on the way. Be safe.
im certain you will get no satisfaction from HD as they would be setting a legal precedent if they stood behind your tour pak.... they would then have to stand behind all broken tour paks, and heaven forbid that ever happens with a passenger on going hiway speed, they would be liable for that too. im sure its in fine print somewhere that we are supposed to check our tour packs for signs of wear before each ride
