Default need some guidance

Hows it going everybody, I'm new to the forums and have a question. Im looking into a 2010 sportster 1200 custom with 40k miles on it. Im wondering if thats too many miles or not. Its at the harley dealer for around 8k it has upgrades on it already which i like alot, and "looks" taken care of. Any thoughts are appreciated thanks

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. In Harley terms that isn't a high mileage, although it is more than many owners will do in that time. Many Harleys sit around waiting for their owners to take them out, but that one has been having a great time by the sound of it! The fact it is at a dealers says a lot for it, as it has probably been properly serviced by a dealer and may even come with a warranty. If you like it and you are happy with the price I can't see any reason to say no!

When you get it home introduce yourself to the Sportster section and post us some photos!

That's averaging about 8k miles a year which would be a little more likely on a cruiser, but might be just about right in sunny California for a Sportster. It would be a bit high here in New York State where our riding season is 3 months if we're lucky. New 1200's go for about $10k s If it has all the upgrades you would have done to a new bike $8k sounds like a decent deal. Motorcycle owners usually spend more time polishing their bikes than on engine maintenance though so looks can be deceiving. I would take it for a spin and make sure everything sounds ok. Also, just because it's a used bike doesn't mean you can't ask for a warranty.

Good Luck and post the pics here if you pull the trigger.

Congratulations on the new bike! The first purchase now should be a shop manual, then have fun modding and making the bike yours!!!
