Default What Happened?

Yesterday I did my first oil change on a 2010 ultra with 11,000 miles on it. I purchased it about 2 months ago so I'm still learning. I put in red line 20W50 and a new Harley oil filter. After the change I started it up for about 10 seconds to get some oil flow. Then lowered it off my lift and checked oil level which was perfect. I went to restart it and the oil pressure idiot light stayed on and the bike would not start. As in dead, nothing at all. I had power but no turn over. I let the bike sit for a while to research what happened and didn't really find anything as of yet to my exact issue. So I removed the battery ground to what I assumed would reset everything. The bike started up as normal and oil pressure light off like it should. I took a ride for about an hour with no issues. Oil pressure is good and no leaks. So what happened? Does the oil pressure light shut the bike down if it detects low pressure? Should I have let it run longer than 10 seconds on that first start up after the oil change? I just ordered a service manual so I'm sure that will shed some light on this I hope.

The oil light should remain lit until a moment after start up so that part is normal. The only issue I see is that it didn't start. Could have been a bad ground. Could have been the FOB not working if you have one. Sometimes when I try to start the bike, the FOB must not be communicating and I have to turn the key off and back on to start the bike.

Thanks for the reply. I should've mentioned no security so no fob but that's a good point.

Did you have the switch to STOP instead of RUN?

That's funny NIL. Although that's a mistake anyone could make I didn't think about making that clear since I already stated I went out for a ride last night. So to clear things up, the run switch is in the run position. The bike runs fine now with no issues. I'm just looking for a reason why it didn't start yesterday after the oil change. So if this condition has happened to someone is please let me know. I did notice today after a short ride the security key symbol that's on the speedo shut off after a couple seconds when you turn on the ignition. Yesterday it did not go off. As I stated above I don't have a security system.
