Threaded inserts, installation?

Threaded inserts, installation?
ok, got a windshield insert that is spinning in the bore. The fix is the threaded insert p/n 16585-96. Got the old one out, no problem. Instructions are to bore the boss oversize with an 8mm bit and thread in the new insert, slotted and tapered end in first. After its seated, remove the insert, sparingly apply adhesive, reinstall. Here's the question, if you install the slotted end in first, as instructed, how do you remove the insert? Or just leave it in and apply a small amount of Cyanoacrylate adhesive around the outside lip of the insert and bore. The stuff will flow into the threads, I think. Just wondering how you would get the thing out if you install as instructed.

Got the threaded inserts in the mail today. They are nowhere near as tapered as the drawing suggests, if at all. I use similar inserts in woodworking and we always install em slotted end out, that way they are removeable with a screwdriver. That said, I put em in as instructed, slotted, tapered end in first to cut the threads and I can tell you this, you ain't getting those puppies out! I was a little concerned about installing after reaming the bore oversize, there is not alot of meat to the boss that you're drilling into. I used a new bit and did it by hand, I was afraid a drill motor would power the bit into the plastic and pull it right thru the other side Easy enough. But it also begs the question, why aren't these done this way right from the factory instead of the pressed in insert? There cannot be enough of a time difference between the two methods to make a bean counter queasy!
