Default Suggestions on cleaning up heads

I bought a used set of heads and I want to clean them up, get all the carbon off for the 98" build. Any suggestions on ways to do this without messing anything up? I have heard of using some gun cleaner like remoil which makes sense with the carbon build up in guns, wanted to see if anybody else has some input. Thanks

At the bare minimum I'd get a good valve job and new seals. With the 98 you may want to consider a street port, mill and the .030" hg etc.

they were already previously done. 1.9 and 1.68 port polish and flow paper work milled down to 79.5cc and guy was using .030 hg making 10.4 cr. im changing out springs for higher lift cam.

he ran them for about 5k before his bike hit in the rear. just want to clean them up a bit before they go on.

any suggestions????

Hit them with a little Kerosene and a brush.

Spray can gasket stripper does a good job of softening up combustion deposits. Then I use a scraper made from a strip of aluminum so it does not scratch the combustion chamber or piston. Grind a bit of a curve on the end to suit the chamber shape. Wire brush in electric drill is good too.
