Default Dead/Faulty Battery(?) Help (2002 FLSTF)

Hello All,
I just purchased a 2002 Fat Boy. I have only ridden the bike home from the dealership I bought it from, about 10 miles. Then I went for a 25 mile ride yesterday. I went to take my bike to work this morning, and she would not start. She was trying to crank over, but then I would get rapid click sound.

Since I didnt have to time mess around with her before work, I just parked it in my back yard and hooked up my battery tender jr to see if it would be charge for a little while working. When I plugged the battery tender in, it displayed red as it charging. But when I got home 8 hours later, the tender displayed green as in fully charged.

I plugged her into my shed and removed battery. I dont know how old this battery is but it is Yuasa ytx20l-bs. I removed the battery and tightened up the pos and neg cables. The battery looks clean.

I hooked up the tender after putting battery back in and let it get back to fully charged and ate dinner. I just went out and put my digital multimeter to the battery and read 13.5. When starting it read 9-9.5, then jumped to around 12.5 after starting.

Is there anything I can do to check if this battery is dead or faulty?

Don't think 12.5 is high enough while running, (checked at battery terminals). Should be closer to 14.1 to 14.8. Have the battery load tested at a parts store, based on cranking voltage doesn't sound like it's bad but have it tested anyway. Sounds like you need to check into the charging system.

You're in the Tech General section here, but if you visit the Tech Electrical section you will see a couple of Stickies on checking your charging circuit. They will help you identify if you have a charging problem and what that is. Start as N-Truder suggests and take it from there!

get it load tested like n-truder said, sounds very likely it a bad battery , also check the ground on both ends.

You just did...
9-9.5v cranking (normal range)
12.5v charging (below normal)

Check your charging as mentioned above
