Angry Breatrher Gases/Oil

My 2002 FLHRI seems to have excessive breather oil. I had an SE breather with K&N filter installed a long time ago. This is the one with hoses that connect to the rear of the backing plate and go into the air filter. I finally got tired of seeing oil dripping on my cam cover and cleaning the filter every few thousand miles.
I converted the backing plate to the one which has the rubber breather plugs that come out of the breather screws and point directly toward the throttle body.
Problem solved, right? Nope, although the air filter doesn't get saturated with oil anymore, I still get drips from the backing plate/air filter seal down onto the cam cover. Isn't the oil/gases supposed to go in the intake?
BTW, the bike has 73,000 miles on it. Could it be the umbrella valves in the head?

fidel,
Do you know what part number breather assembly you used. Would it be the last year for the '88 cu. inch? (2010 I think).

Question Problem Solved?

OK, here is an update. I checked all the advice on modifying and venting breather gases to atmosphere. I just couldn't warm up to all the hoses and clamps.
Took the filter off again and really examined the backing plate, where the filter seals. I noticed some roughness on the lower edge of the plate. Taking a fine metal file I began to smooth the area when a large chunk of excess chrome plating fell off. I guess the air filter wasn't really sealing. I didn't think much about it and re-assembled everything.
Well, two weeks later and a couple of 100+ mile trips and no drips!
I am a Mechanical Engineer but just can't get a handle on the physics (vacuum, pressure?) of what goes on in the air cleaner/throttle body that would cause this to happen.
Any ideas?

At speed especially above 3000rpm, a little oil will be picked up from the driven crankcase blow by and escape thru the breather in the heads and baffle and screen system but it pretty much drops out of the air flow since once in the plumbing going to the air filter, it speed drops down since atmospheric pressure is what is pushing (not piston pulling) air into the engine. This is why little if any actual oil in drawn into the throttle body. The tin men tell you different but they have another agenda. If you let a bike sit a few weeks, it actually appears worst since it runs down out of the hoses. The stock air filter body will catch it and normally hold it to the normal air filter service. No big deal to wipe out the air box. The oil on the filter media just make the filter better. If you have an open SE type filter, just wipe the drool off the bottom of the old girls chin and keep getting up.
