Default IS YOUR SPEEDO READING THE RIGHT MPH

I recently starting taking more notice of my speed while riding. usually i just hang with traffic. i noticed my speedo reading 90 mph, but i wasnt really flying past anyone. does anybody know how to test the accuracy of your speedo.(short of asking someone to roll down their window and tell you how fast they are going)lol

If you time yourself between mile posts on a parkway, it should take one minute to go from one to the next at 60 mph, or you can use a gps and do it right.

Hmmmm..... I just rode past one of those radar trailers that reads your speed, My speedo read 48mph the unit said I was going 42mph. Mines a mechanical speedo so I don't expect to much accuracy from it.

Supposedly all m/c speedos are really inaccurate...at least that's what I told the nice officer as he was writing up his ticket

I was beginning to think that I was the only one noticing the difference. I have been wondering about this for a long time. Now, I know that only a select few only do the speed limit, but I'll be going what I think is about 50 or 55 in a 45 zone and people are passing me like I'm standing still. Makes me think......

Had mine checked by Harley since it wasn't matching up with the folks I was riding with, it was about 6% slow at 70mph as matched against the other bikes and against a cage. The dealership checked it, and it was within specs (.8mph off at 40mph, and about 3mph at 60). S&S makes a unit that will allow you to tune your speedo, seems like it's a normal issue.
