Harley makes 5 basic bikes
Dyna
Softail
V-Rod
Sporster
& The Baggers

The differences between the bikes on each of the 5 lines is sometimes very subtle. When I study the bikes on the showroom floor I look for the variations between let’s say the Dyna line and they are not always drastic.

If this is true and I do not know that it is. I’d say it is due to sales. You do not kill a best seller.

Perhaps someone could look up how much of each model MoCo sold. They are a publicly traded company and so this information is public.

I can't see them discontinuing the Softail Standard. It's one of their best sellers and has been for a long time. And the Wide Glide? Doubt it. The Deuce, I've heard rumours about for a while, so maybe. Don't know about the others.

If true, this makes sense, except that I'm surprised that the basic softail is on the list. The others probably were low sellers (the Street Rod particularly), some were also redundant (is there a need for 3 Road Kings?) and some were 1-year specials already. Maybe this is to make room for some new models in the '08 lineup, or to just pare the lineup down in a cost-cutting move?

I cant believe they would get rid of 2 of their best sellers, the Wide Glide And Softail Standard. The others on the list are just variations of other top selling bikes.

 

Did HD announce that you need to discontinue the use of your caps lock as well?

I dont buy it, harley doesnt say anything this time of year, they disclose all year model info at the national dealer meeting in june. Untill then its just a rumor![sm=laughat.gif][sm=signs006.gif]
