Default Garmin GPS mount slipping

My new Garmin Nuvi is drooping with the vibration of the mount. Has anyone found a way to do something to the ball or socket to make it hold the position better?

I have a 2797 Garmin which is 7 inches and big. I have the mounting system by Leader Motorcycle and it is held very tight with no movement. You might want to look at their mounts. I know you didn't ask that but they do make very solid mounts.

I found rubbing a little dirt or fine sand on the ball works. Not sure if it roughens it or just mucks it up enough to hold it in place.

Look closely at the little black ball.... I had one that was starting to crumble and dry rot.

A short piece of a wide rubber band would work. Sounds silly but are you sure you're tightening it enough?

If it's new...did you contact Garmin? You may have gotten a defective mount.

I used some emery cloth to scuff the ball up, then tightened the nut with a pair of channel locks, very carefully. I have a heavy *** Zummo 660.

I just tried a different arm that I had and found that the bolt was just a tad to long.. I found a shorter bolt and it tightened right up.

+1 on the mount from Leader , it's roc k solid didn't budge at all on a 2,000 mile ride. I have a RAM cradle for my Garmin 2595 LMT unit.

Try a RAM Mount. They probably make one for your Garmin. It's excellent on my iPhone.

I took HEAVY sandpaper to my ball, gouging deep scratches against the direction of the tilt. Repainted black and seems to hold just fine now.
