Splitting Lanes: Should it be Legal Everywhere?
#591
I obsess about other states on a daily basis.....The only thing california has going for it is weather and lane splitting.
It isnt the dream boat place to live like everyone thinks....With the pollution, illegal immigrants running around everywhere with no one doing anything about it, the retarded gun laws, the corrupt politics, and the business killing tactics I really dont know if this is a place where I want to raise my coming child.
The only thing keeping me here is family......

I am sure you must have seen all of these signs at one time or another:
"no vehicles over 18,000 lbs"
"vehicles more than two axles this lane"
"speed limit: cars 65mph, trucks 55mph"
"all trucks must stop at weigh station"
"cars left, trucks right"
"toll 50cents per axle"
"no trucks over 13ft 6in "
"no truck parking"
"no trucks overnite"
And if you still doubt there are different rules, try bringing an 18 wheeler into a suburban neighborhood and park it on the street for any length of time.

You aren't aware that trucks follow different requirements than cars???

LOL. I forgot about some of those. I can say where I am from there is no tolls. Signs here don't say no trucks over a certain height, it's ALL vehicles over that height. No parking is no parking...trucks or otherwise.
I'll take a pic of my neighbors truck sitting in front of his house when he his home over the weekend !!
See, the problem is you guys don't live where you are free!!!

I do it sometimes depending on the situation. My state law leaves it in a grey area. 99% of the time I do it, the cars I pass haven't paid enough attention to even know I was there...I trust no cages while on my bike ! and I like to stay away when possible.

Well said! I have been to Idaho and it is an awesome place Your statement brings me back to my point in this thread: Where I live I am free to split lanes and I would like it to remain that way. Unlike some of our co-posters here.
Peace.
Peace.

All I know is that at the very least, filtering at stop lights should be legal absolutely everywhere. Really not a dangerous practice and it helps alleviate traffic. All the highly congested countires in the world allow it for that reason. Just a thought.
