Default Rememberance: September 11th

We all remember the day, September 11th 2001. That's the day an attack occurred on US soil and the lives of thousands of Americans were lost and thousands more were changed forever. I was golfing that morning, relaxing from a job in sales and oblivious to the early chaos. When I went home and turned on the TV I was stunned by what I saw. It was just in time to see the second plane hit the towers and not something I will likely ever forget.
From that tragedy many things happened. The country banded together more tightly than it had since possibly WWII. It didn't matter who or what you did you were swept up in the simple patriotism that has made America one of the greatest nations in history.

I quit my job that day, made the decision to go back to school, stopped in the local pub and had a coffee and turned on the TV. I was there all night.

I was young back then not to far out of high school. My dad called home that morning and told me to get my marching boots on. Had no idea what he meant until I turned the tv on. All the men in my family documented all the way back to war of 1812 have served in a American conflict so I knew when the towers fell my time had come. I remember president Bush climbing the rubble and speaking out that they were going to pay. Wasn't long after that I was in the Marines and the rest is history.

Turned on the tube minutes before the second plane struck the towers. Spent the next few hours in shock and awe.

Remember that day very well. Was in the Marines at the time. Did not take long for all of us that day to start packing and getting ready for something...

`Picked up some hitch hiking soldiers later that day on their way to Ft. Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. `Took them to the base and on the way bought them supper.
