When I ride my Ninja all I see is Harley's and I'm snubbed everytime.
opposite when when I'm riding my Phatail, all I see is sportbikes,
some of the sportbikes will give ya the nod of approval (or jealousy?)

I have carpal tunnel, doesn't matter which bike, my hands go numb
especially while thrashing the Dragon.
Harley hurts my back, hips, almost to the point of selling the bike.
Tuffed it out it's just part of the experience.

We've logged as much as1000 miles in 3 days while in the Mountains of Tenn, NC
But the roads are very twisty, moving around in the saddle, don't really notice
the length of time until it starts getting dark.

Years ago (ok.....back when I was 28), rode 2 up with the brand new wife from southern Iowa to central Mn on a Ninja 600RR. Aside from the rain storm, the ride wasnt that bad. If you dont count her *** being so sore she was crying (and afraid to tell her new hubby she needed to stop)......and oh yea..don't forget that from the 12 hrs of sittin on my sac, that I ended up having to go to the ER. Epiditimitis (swelling of the internal plumbing).

Rode back home a week later, and NEVER went on a trip longer than 100 miles or so after that.

 

Rode my daughters big wheel the other day. Lasted 3 minutes.

 

I used to ride a Honda V45 Intercepter all over the country, and I can say the secret to doing 500 to 1000 miles per day is to ride 120 mph all day long, have a good tank bag to lay down on and put your feet back on the passenger pegs. Then hope you don't see any LEO's.

 

If everyones sac is being crushed and your back hurting you are not riding the bike right. You are virtually in the same type of position on a sport bike as a cruiser just laid forward instead of up. your nuts should not be smushed on the tank unless you were trying to stay tucked VERY TIGHTLY!! and your not hunched over but laid flat. I have done 500+ days often and in a row on my R! which is thought to be VERY radical

 

Glad I'm comfortable on all kinds of bikes. Have no issues with the feet forward, weight-on-the-back cruiser, nor are sportbike, sport touring, or dual-sport ergos a problem. Nice and natural -- all of them. For sure, the most comfortable, natural, correct ergonomic position for a sportbike is that sweet lean forward when at speed in the canyons. Nothing like it. And nothing like the H-D ergos when cruising, short or far. Also sweet.

 

Yep, if he wants to tour a sportbike is not the best choice, but he probably already knew that. It all depends on what kind of riding you want to do. I wouldn't buy any cruiser if all I did was riding twisties around my area, just as I wouldn't buy a sportbike for touring.

But seriously, if I wanted to tour I would buy a touring bike with an upright riding position. The traditional feet forward cruiser position puts too much pressure on my back.

 

c.mon fellas......granted my FXD is way more comfortable, but I can ride my ZX6 for hours, and I've got several blown discs in the lower back....get off your azz a bit and let the legs take some weight....enduro style. I luv my HD but there's still nothing like carving up some twisties at ludicrous speed.
