I use and recommend "Leather Therapy". I buy it from Fox Creek http://www.foxcreekleather.com/produ...y-reg-restorer . Easy to apply , dries quickly , doesn't smell , looks great . What's not to like !

don't know how they tanned leather way back but old timers used butter!

Have heard very good things about Skidmore's. Hillside USA Leathers sent me a 6oz jar of Fiebing's Mink Oil Paste free with my new jacket. I'll give it a shot.

when I was heavy in Black power I read yrs old time trappers back in the 1800's used to use bacon/animal grease to waterproof boots, but it'll get rancid smelling after a while..
