Harley Demo days

You pick out the bike you want and ride it. It's a controlled ride, not like you can take it out by yourself and rip it. There's a group leader and you have to ride in a group. They're usually pretty conservative. Rides usually last 10-20 minutes or so. I usually ride 4 or 5 bikes. It's fun, especially if you're considering buying a bike...

Yeah, they make you sign a liability waiver. But, I've never had to wear a vest of any sort. I've only done them at Dallas Harley a few times though.

I dunno. Up here every day is demo day at the HD dealers. I go into the dealer just putzing around and it is a constant "Want to take it out?". I took them up four or five times, Sporty through Road King.. Just needed to show the M endorsement. They have helmets in the back if you didn't have one. Only one time was I told where to ride. Other times it was "Have fun, see you when you get back." This latter one is why I really question slavish adherence to engine break-in religions. Unless there is less than 5 miles on the OD, no telling what some test rider before you did to bugger things up. Interesting that metric dealers in this area do not let floor models go out for test rides unless there is a sales contract written.
Maybe it's just a regional thing. Their stats must suggest that the odds of closing a sale go up significantly if you can get the customer to take a test ride. Hence, it is good business.

Yep, did the same thing on the one we went on. Had enough safety gear on to land jets on an aircraft carrier they made everyone wear. Got to ride the 3 models I was always interested in though so didn't mind to much. Endorsement, proof of insurance & a waiver there
