One thing not mentioned is have them fit tight around the leg when you get them because they stretch. Then they flap in the wind. You can alway cut the to be short enough. Alway leave a little long because they shink up too. I good set a chap are going to run 200 or so. The differences are on these cheap twainee's chaps the snaps get rusted the zippers fail and then what do you have. The good ones have brass buttons and zippers. You can get some under that prices that are pretty good, just don't by real cheap ones or they will haught you. I paid around 120 for mine and they are not brass but they have been good so far, If I had 2 c notes to spare I would have go for the brass because the leather is really top grade too.

Cutting off enough to lose one snap has one advantage. You now have a strap with a snap that you can use to secure your chaps when they are rolled up in your saddlebags.

I am not buying them from the stealer, this is a place called PaPa's leather barn. Just how tight do I get them? I was unable to get into the XL had to move up to a 2XL and they were tight around my thigh's but just way long. The chaps that I was trying on did not have brass buttons or zippers, but they were only 99.00. The only difference between these and the 179.00 were the thinsulate lining.
I am looking for more protection from coming off of the bike than for foul weather riding. If you guys have a particular brand throw them my way, I dont want to have to put by firefighter brethern through picking up my hyde like I have done many many times

A lot of people on this forum like Fox Creek Leather products ( foxcreekleather.com ). I have not used them but they custom make to your measurements I think. The chaps may be in the $200 neighborhood though.

Yep, bought some chaps from foxcreek for about $212. They fit perfect as they tell you how to order the chaps on the website. A little pricey but I figure that I will never need to replace these bad boys. Great people to deal with....best customer service in the industry! If they don't fit they will exchange them as long as you don't cut the length. Let know how you make out. mud

If they're a little tight around your thighs that's a sign of a good fit.
Sit on the bike and get the length measured/cut, and you're good to go!!!

best advise don`t buy them they are so damn silly looking where pants or underlegs, if it rains and you walk into a rest, looks like you pissed your pants besides being gay as hell
the guy asked a question about something he wanted..... not what you think is cool or not.
wear what you want there is some good advice here get them longer so that they cover your foot wear while in a comfortable riding postition. keeps the wind out.
