Default Black wrinkle finish engines

How easy or otherwise is it to keep black wrinkle finish engines looking good?
On the face of it l would think that a black engine is easier to keep looking nice than an alloy and chrome engine, l was thinking about bad weather riding and winter road filth. Thanks.

I've had both and believe me black engined bikes are a lot easier and quicker to clean, and when the black starts to "gray " just give it a spray of S100 engine brightener or if you can't get that use WD 40.

Harley has Engine Brite. Really great stuff. Spray on everything. Wipe excess off and looks blacker than new (with a little gloss to it). No more non black engines for me. Harley engines are textured black not wrinkled black anymore.

I always used to have black wrinkle finish on my old bikes...heat resistant paint of course.
