The engizes in bug guts can etch your paint if left on to long. When I painted cars I sprayed a product called slime on the car where I didn't want overspray to stick. It washes off with water. I would try spraying a little of that on your fairings.

Personally I've had bugs on my windshield in the past, that could be used to extract DNA from, for Jurassic Park IV. I tend to look over the windshield, and hate to waste good riding weather washing, scrubbing and buffing. I give it a good cleaning a few times each season, but when I do it, it certainly takes more than 1/2 and hour! (2 - 3 is my avg...I really go to it...) As with most things on this forum though, to each his own. Some people like their bike in showroom condition at all times. I wish I was that diligent...honest. I guess I'd just rather ride. [&:]

I use Pro Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish. Best stuff I have found. Cleans, and puts a protective coating on the windshield that makes bugs stick less, and makes them easier to wipe off. About $5 a can, which lasts a long time. Canbe used on the entire bike, too.

This thread motivated me, I am gonna clean the bike today. One of my little tricks is to take a wet towel and lay it across the fairing and windshield while I am gathering my stuff. This seems to soften the stuck on bugs and they come off easier. I have a race car with a lexan windshield, I use lexan cleaner on the windshield, although if it wasn't stuff I already had I would probably not buy it just for the bike, the stuff is great though. For the rest of the bike I use a Mr. Clean autodry thing, it does a good job and doesn't leave spots, I am leery about using a leaf blower on the bike even thought the dealer does it. With the spot free rinse from the Mr Clean thing it dries just fine.

What concerns you about using a leaf blower? Works great for me.
