Best time to buy new?
What has been your experience as far as timing on buying a new bike?
Right before the new year models come out (like, now), right after new models come out, wait until mid or late winter?
When are the dealers most anxious to get rid of last years models?
When I bought my '09 new, I just bought it because I wanted it, wasn't riding anything else at the time. Now I can afford to be patient.
What do you think?

Usually when the next years models are on the floor. They want to get rid if the current years models and usually they're cheaper...usually.

What 's more important to you, getting the low price or getting the bike you want? The longer you wait, the less stock to choose from, but possibly the lower the price. Once the 2015's hit the floor, the 2014's may be reduced to move them out. To me I'd rather get the exact bike I want, (even if it meant ordering it), than getting the cheapest possible price. So I bought in March, still plenty of stock and still could have ordered had I needed to. The longer a bike sits unsold, the greater the incentive for the dealer to move it. Shop around now, just to test the waters and see what is still on the floor.

If there are no impressive changes from one model year to another, I think the best time to buy a new bike is when the new models are introduced and you buy a leftover from the previous year.
But consider, the moment you drive it off the floor, it is already a year old, so the "deal" has to take that into consideration. If you want a current year model, pick any winter month and shop in the last week of the month. Look for the hungriest looking salesman and lowball an offer.

if you live where it snows then the middle of the winter is probably a better time to buy.
or right after they get a shipment of next years model.

+1 to that. There too many Garage Queens out there just waiting for their moment in the sun.
And if your mind runs toward the macabre, the leading edge of the Boomers will soon start dying off. There's going to be a bunch of widows with little but SS for income looking to turn their deceased husband's toys into some grocery money. I saw one just today -- a very early model, low mileage E'Glide -- at an estate auction.
