Default Tensioners TC 88 ,2003

Long story short, thought I heard "Noise" in my 2003 Heritage Carburated engine with 26K miles,, I had the extended warranty. Took to the dealer, at first they asked if I wanted to upgrade to the SE Tensioners for $500? I said no, dont got money right now just do whatevers covered under warranty. So Service manager calls me yesterday, says bikes ready, my cost is only the $50 co pay as part of plan and that bike has been "upgraded" to "Hydraulic Tensioners"
( No mention of SE) anyway, I am embarrassed to ask but...Does this mean the Oil Pump has been changed? Is there another version of Hydraulic Tensioners that is "HD? not SE? My understanding was that for the Hydraulic Tensioners to work, Oil Pump must be changed? Sounds like they took care of me....anyones thoughts?
Thanks
Ed..

The "upgrade" is a hybrid kit that is actually from Andrews. It does require changing the oil pump to facilitate the hydraulic tensioners. It is an effective fix, and it's nice they did it for you for $50. We had to pay for the one on my wife's '05.

A phone call to the dealer that did the work would tell you more than people on an internet forum...

I'd think the invoice would have a list of all parts replaced...

Sounds like you got lucky. The hydraulic tensioners are a very good idea. Most likely they used the S/E kit. The Andrews set-up uses the 07 up 96" cam plate and pump, but requires the use of conversion cams.

This. Andrews makes an "N" cam with a stock "grind" but I'd be surprised if the OP's dealer went that route. If they did, OP missed an opportunity for an easy cam upgrade to 21 or 24Ns. I used the Andrews conversion kit w/24Ns on my 95" build, and have no regrets.

Does the kit include BOTH hyd tensioners or just the outer? I thought the kit to do both was over $500 just for the parts.

To do the hydraulic tensioner upgrade...

You have to replace the cam support plate also, hence the 'kit'...

I believe the cam support plate with hydraulic tensioners, and high output oil pump ran me just under $500, $486 or so? Installation was all on me, but I don't charge myself much. And yes, both tensioners were included in the 'kit'.

BTW, there are different versions of the cam support plate upgrade kit. Mine was an '08 version.
