What temperature do you ride in?
Man, I just got my bike last week and I just want to ride everyday. Denver has been holding at about 58 everyday. I work nights in the mountains where it gets down to the 20-30s at midnight still. What temp do you wait to ride in? Or do you just throw on the leather and go?

I live in the Northeast and ride down to the teens(so far)with my heated gear. Cold temps aren't really the problem in winter, it's the snow and salt on the roads. On the other end there is no limit to the max temp I'll ride out here. It doesn't really get hot enough to be a concern. If I lived in AZ in the summer, it might be a concern.

This is just the rainy time of year too. Kind of hard to judge if it will be pouring while I make my ride down the mountain for an hour after work and its 30 degrees. Might have to wait a few more weeks til it warms up more.

Rain's a different animal. Get some good quality rain gear and you're good to go. I'd be careful riding in temps freezing or below with any moisture on the road. Don't want to hit any ice. Even if the temps are above freezing be careful of ice in shady areas that might not have melted yet.

If I had my way I'd never ride below 60 degrees. But back to reality lol. I rode to a dealer yeasterday morning that was an hour and a half away and it was 45 when I left my house. By the time I got there I couldn't feel my hands and I had two pairs of gloves on.
Around here I'll go as low as mid 40's but that's it cause like KeithB said don't want to hit ice.

I don't see how 38 or 48 is going to keep you safe from ice. There could still be ice in shady areas that just hasn't melted yet. I ride well below freezing but am very cautious of shady areas. The front steps of my house are always in the shade and there is still ice on them looooong after the temps have gone above freezing. Might be 38 or 48 by day but if it's 28 at night, it will refreeze.
