my range is anything over 30° and no snow or ice.

On the Sporty, below 50 and it stays parked. I've frozen my hands and of all things my thighs take a beating. Takes forever, to get warmed up. I live in the foothills, with freeways all around, and at 75mph, that windchill is just brutal on me.

Being in So. Calif it does't getreally cold too often durning the daybut at night it can be really cold (if you call upper 20's and low 30's cold).
Since I've been commuting I can get away with 48 for a helmet, leather, and chaps...much colder and I am popcycle girl when I get to work. No real need to buy real heavy or heated clothing unless I plan on taking a trip where I might need it. Hubby bought heated gloves (has real probs with his hands getting cold)
So far the hottest I've ridden in is 113. In general I prefer it to be under100 though in mid-summer mother nature has not been playing nice with that lately.

I ride unless it dips below 30 or so. I don't mind the cold as much, the rain is worse to me.
I rode my bike to a work conference today even though there was a chance of afternoon thunderstorms (never happened, thank you weatherman) andItold them if it started raining I was gonna leave early. 2 cagers told me I was being wimpy. I asked them how was it wimpy when they drove to the conference enclosed in their car behind 2 tons of steel and a windshield. One guy said "wellI don't have a bike" and the other guy just mumbled something. I laughed at them and had a nice ride home at the end of the day.
The End
