Countdown Blues...
Man I remember back in the 70s and 80s when I was a irresponsible happy young man I never really had to "plan" long state to state rides I just went. Now at 58 and widowed dad with a teen finding the time to just leave for a week or two is dang hard. But I found some road time and plan to use it to go to Sturgis this year from Arizona, bop around Wyoming and South Dakota and who knows what else. No computor, no calls from work, no real schedule, and solo!
Plan to log 3 to 4 K on this trip and am chomping at the bit to do it. The long rides are best and I have never had a bike hauled anywhere, but home when it couldn't be fixed on the road. The shear adventure and thrill of being free to do what you want seems to dwindle from one's life with kids, job, pets, owning property and it is akin to putting one's self in a prison of his own making. A soft cushy prison yes, but....
So where am I going with all this? really nowhere and rambling also comes with age and cushy prison food.... Got 29 more days before I roll and I am packed already and checking the calendar twice a day.
I am pretty sure most of ya get it and perhaps will see a couple of ya along the road one day...

I feel ya brother. I'm sure lot's of others around here do too. Our back stories may be a bit different, but we're all here together on this.

My lady and I were not doing any long rides, too busy with the business and the day to day BS. She loves to ride, can't get enough. One day she says "we should go to Sturgis!" I said yes before my brain went into first gear. Now I'm excited as hell about it! I'm 60, she's 53 and we got plenty of energy. Been going on longer trips and the bike is good to go. See ya there Arizona brother!

I wish I had the time and even more the money...even if I had the time, I don't have the money...to go to Sturgis. So to those that have both, you're living my dream.

Sounds good! Plan on leaving Snottsdale on 7/30, my sweetheart's birthday. Going to spend a couple days in Denver with friends and being in Sturgis 7-9, staying at a cabin in Lead.
