Hollister rally !

Yes....
Not even close.....
It is however the birthplace of sensationalism by the press with regard to bikers and of staging posed photos to make a few rowdy partiers look like a real threat to all of the newspaper readers at home, far from the event.
It was also the birthplace of bad biker movies....
But the birthplace of the "American Biker"?
Hardly.

Looks like another successful rally. We been there done that last year As for the claim to be the "birthplace", well.... I'm pretty sure everyone knows that bikers were doing that stuff all over the country back then. Like Greezey said, that was just media hype.

Hollister California??? 67th annual??? When I left that place 25 years ago it was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Has it changed that much? It was better known for the vintage planes that flew there. Ridgerunner being the best in my book but he had a buddy that flew a pale green Aussie plane called Seafury I think. Loved to watch those two buzz the airport. But bike rally??? There really wasn't one back then. A parade but that was it.
I went and test rode the new Indian at the dealer while I was out there on business about a month ago. Until I reached the town of Hollister, I was actually wondering if the rental car GPS was taking me the right way. When I finally arrived there, I was like, "wow, what's this little town doing way out in the middle of BFE??? and why is there an Indian dealer way out here?" Turns out they see quite a bit of traffic and it's pretty rich on bike culture...
Wouldn't have guess it just being out there the one time.

Just got home. The rally was fun, lots of bikes, people and vendors. Left the rally and rode the coastline and on into San Francisco, then turned toward home. Hell of a nice ride!
