That's too bad they are having these problems....I wanted to go the custom route but the cost is way too much in my opinion. I decided to go H/D...and have to say I PREFER H/D....I think making a H/D custom is the best route to go....buy the custom parts you like and thenuse the H/D parts for all the rest.............absolutely the best way to go!

HD isn't without their problems...just read this site.Theres a Big Dog dealer here I go to a lot. They have a cool bar and their parts guy is real cool. But the bikes.Wow.Up close you can see why they are so expensive. However, line up 6 Pitbulls and they all look they same with a different paint job. They'll finance these things for 9 years.Think about this, 117" motors, 250-300mm tires, billet everything, raked out killer paint, $28,000-$38,000.Everybody says"stick with HD".However, look at the questions on this forum," how can I get a bigger tire on here" or "anybody know a good painter in AZ?".Or this, "how can I get in the 100/100 club?".You can build it or buy it.I like this one too"can I use raked trees on my softtail?".I'm not knockin either bike or the people on this forum, but people keep slammin' the "cookie cutters" and then try to achieve with a stock HD what a manufacturer has already done.I'd buy a Big Dog if I found a used one for the right price.I love my train, but if you'd trade me straight -up for a Big Dog chopper, the decision would be easy.

Now if production, quality, support, customer satisfaction andprofits go up as a result of cleaning out the deadwood, the CEO possibly deserves one.

I looked at Big Dogs first before I bought. They just didn't wake me up. Nice bikes, no soul.
I ended up buying a Harley because there just isn't any legecy behind any of the custom bikes out there.
I ended up dumping in considerably more money into my Harley than a loaded Big Dog would have cost me, but Ifeel I ownsomething that is actual piece of Americana.

Is anybody really surprised? The fad is fading. Been done before and in a few years it'll be done again.

I think they killed themselves when they invited the press out to drive their bikes last year. I read an article that said they had 14 bikes and before the end of the ride 7 of them had broken down. With press like that you aren't going to sell a lot of bikes.

I looked at the Big Dog Chopper, but no one would give me a straingt andswer or price. Talked to 2 different sale people and got 2 totaly different prices over $30k for the same bike. Lots of custom parts but not $30k worth.
