Install Roadking Fener Emblems
Hello Guys and Gals,
I have a Roadking Custom & I don't like they look of the plain front fender. So I have ordered some OEM Roadking Emblems the same ones that are on the Roadking Classic. When I recieved theses emblems I see that thet have three tabs that are attached to the emblems that you are supposed to drill you fender and the tabs go through holding it in place. My questions are, can I grind od the tabs and put some 3M adhesive or something and use that to attach to the fender? Does the fender have to be drilled? And if so when must I remove the fender drill it. I will not drill into the tire if I do so. Am I missing something Here?

I don't think I would trust some kind of an adhesive.
Couldn't you put a piece of wood, plastic, metal or something behind the fender and infront of the tire when you drill each hole?

I could do that but I don't like the idea of drilling the fender. I think it would be harder to get the emblem to line up properly when you drill it. As far a trusting an adhesive isn't that what keeps your tank decals on?

all my 100th emblems on my dyna are held on by tape,,, havnt had a prob.
if you drill you would have to at least remove the tire as you would have to do something with them
tabs? nuts, bend over, etc?

3M nameplate tape will hold them on. Stop by a body shop and ask them to sell you a foot or so.

RE: Install Roadking Fener Emblems
I have the 04 RK Police, a former County Sheriff motor. I came without the RK fender emblem like you are talking about. I added the emblem. I used masking tape on the fender. Penciled in a levelline and marked where I wanted the emblem. Measured and marked the "tab" locationn, center punched the hole and drilled a small pilot hole. I then increased the hole size with drills to get a tight fit and pressed the emblem into place. One hole was just a bit large and one edge of theemblem was a little loose. Not falling out, but loose. I added a drop of "gorilla glue" to the tab and pressed it back into place and it has held fine. I now have about 6000 miles with no problems. A small thin piece of plywood wood do fine to place between the fender and tire to keep from hitting the tire. I just controlled the drill and didn't use anything between fender and tire. I kept the fender on the bike, as I didn't know how to remove it.
Hope this helps.

RE: Install Roadking Fener Emblems
Hi IMO I wouldnt drill the fender. What happens behind the fender over time the fender will rust. Reason the paint was removed and there is nothing to prevent the bare metal from corosion. I would say just tape them and if they fall off replace them. beats potential rust and unwanted holes if you decide to changesomething later.
