Usually clean after I ride. Only use soap and water when bike gets really dusty

 

I live on a dirt road, so even if I shine it all up, its already dirty again before I get back on the tar.
With the 20" steel rods in my back, it makes detailing it tough for me, last year I only washed it once....
I do try to clean it up for bike week in Laconia, the one time it shines.
My friend's Roadking get washed when he takes it to the dealer for service, I don't think he has ever washed his
own bike, he says, it's time for an oil change, and get the whitewalls done at the dealer.

Really good detailed cleaning when it gets put up for the winter and maybe once more during the rest of the year. Other than that, sometimes a really quick soap & water or st1000 wash. Used to be kind of **** about it, but I'd rather ride my bike a little on the dirty side than blow a lot of time making it gleam without the odometer turning. I don't panic when I see a few raindrops fall before I head out for a ride like one of the guys I know. If there's even a chance of rain, he's not riding as he's "spent a lot of time cleaning and polishing the darn thing."

 

I use to wash myred wide glide if I got caught in the rain. Now I have a black pearl road king and if I don't wash it weekly, it looks real bad. Love the color but it's lots of work to keep clean.

 

I'll use bottled water to pour on a clean towel. And wipe it down. I'll wash it, if it rains or if I go OCEANSIDE for a ride. That SALT likes to eat everything!!!!!!!!!!

 

Riding it in the rain IS washing it!
