Drop the ASP and move to SMF using MySQL = problem solved
Or perhaps JSP and Postgresql...maybe DB2, Clipper perhaps? Maybe Plone or RoR...perhaps ColdFusion and Oracle 11G?

I'm thinking I like Perl CGI for this one...perhaps with a flat file storage solution.

So what you're saying is that if we simply reprogram the entire site, physically model a new DB platform, migrate all the existing datato a new db we'll be ok? That should take what...maybe a couple of days...maybe a day for testing and we'll be in good shape?

Guess that sure beats the heck out of capacity planning, migrating to a more powerful server and letting the more powerful server handle the member usage from 8k members to 25k +members in a year.

Referring to the Tandy TRS80--a few years back when I was getting the artificial Christmas tree out of its box I found an early '80s Radio Shack catalog in the bottom. Out of curiosity I browsed the computer page (not section). The TRS80 went for $4295!!! We've come a long way.

Thanks here to, it was like my 1 year old system was more like the old 386. If you have to ask, you're not old enough to remember really s l o w computers running at a speedy 33 MHz.
I remember DOS 3.1 running at 25 MHz and the old Sinclair ZX running on steam and the old Amiga Computers which were state of the art in their day but resemble an ABACUS now ! So does that make me Ancient or what ?

I've still got an old Timex Sinclair, still in the box, around here someplace. Think it's worth anything?
