Thanks for all the answers. My main question was to find out if I had leverage to negotiate on the bike because of the mileage.
When I asked the salesman why it had so many he was vague, but said "it was from setup & inspection upon arrival at the dealer, after they added stage 1 (to make sure it worked) and maybe a few test rides"
They didn't seem willing to budge on the price for the mileage...oh well, I'll find a different bike at a better price.

i my self wouldnt worry to much if its under warranty, if your not comfprtable with it then move on to a different bike... it was what 54 miles or so? i took a bike out and put 15 miles on it, so thats what? 2-3 test rides and what the shop did... i dont think anyone is going to do what dale jr did in that commercial for the chevy camaro

 

I bought a car once that had 185 miles on it. The dealer made a trade with another dealer on the other side of the state, & they drove the car over, instead of flatbedding it. I got almost a grand off the price. prolly woulda got it anyway; nobody pays sticker for a car.

 

I bought a brand new truck in 1987 and the dealer didn't have the one I wanted so they had one driven in from a dealer 50 or so miles away. Maybe that's the case here.

But seriously, those miles were probably 'supervised' by dealership salespeople leading the way on numerous short test rides. The dealership here does it all the time.

 

I highly doubt that they'd give a bike to a guy who looked like the Toecutter and say "take it for a spin and let us know what you think".

 

2 year warranty unlimited mileage! Your safe! Japan bikes only have 1 year! With 53 miles on the bike if it was the one I wanted I would go for it!

 

My Road King is ex-demo and had 1500 miles on it when it became mine. Since then I've put on another 35,000 or so. That original 1500 miles has had no discernable effect on the machine overall and are now lost in the exhaust trail.

53 miles? Ride on...

 

You get supervised test rides?

I have never had a sales person go along on the ride from any dealer. With H-D I was always told to be back in about an hour. With the BWM dealer, be back in the morning.

 

I'd much rather buy that bike with 53 miles on it than a new one with 10 miles and with all kinds of dealer add ons (pipes, intake) that has been on the dyno.
I wouldn't hesitate as long as the deal is right.
