The reason I am so defensive is that often times people on here say you did the crime, pay the fine, but I don't agree with the state being able to tell me what I have to wear. this is Freakin' America. I would still wear a helemt if there was no law, but I don't like being told what to do as I am sure many of you relate to.
Been there done that, rode for years wearing a helmet under protest, and spent the time and money with alot of other fine folks gettingthe lawchanged. We finnaly won.

Probably have only ever rode without a lid less than ten times (peer pressure), but still wear one today, but it seems different knowing it is my choice.

Tell the judge its pure out DISCRIMINATION!!!! If you lived in many other states no law would have been broken. Or just drop to your knees and cry like a baby. LOL good luck, but you sound like they might send you to prison. Here its just a 50 buck fine.

California just ain't gonna change...IMO. Best to find a good looking helmet that's DOT and enjoy the ride. Most of what we worry about, at times, is the small BS. Enjoy the fact you CAN ride and put the effort in to enjoying your pretty wife and the sunny SoCal blue sky. Many times we just don't see how good we really have it...I have to remind myself daily. Good luck with the judge.

Oh, and to the prison comment, I just think it is rediculous for me to have to pay for a ticket like that. If I was speeding, swerving, drunk, acting like an azz, fine. Guess the officer was having a bad day and I gave him a headache. The fine is $117 here. A little high IMO.

I could almost get a carbon fiber helmet from ACC for that. So if I win, I will start saving for an ACC...

You sound astonished thatelitist politiciansin California think they know what's best for all ofus lower class citizens. Shouldn't we be thankful we have these superior individuals looking out for us? How else would we not stab ourselves witha fork when eating if it weren't for the benevolent elites?

I would think that if the state was really concerned about ya having the right equipment, they would have ya prove that ya bought the state approved helmet. If they fine ya, ya have less money to go out and do the right thing.
