Default Echo helmet quick disconnect review, junk!

I ordered a set of these off ebay for the wife and I after reading some good reviews and installed them last night...and promptly removed them and threw them out.

They are probably safe but they are very hard to use as the male side is so small that its hard to use. My wife pinched her neck and said no way. I tried mine and got it half in and half out and could not unlock it so I had to slide loosen the strap to get my helmet off.

I am sure you can get used to it but F that. Junk IMHO. Love the idea, hate the product.

I second that! Had one on mine and got tired of how hard it is to buckle and the more than occasional pinch. Had a hard time getting it off the helmet and had to cut the metal to slide it out. Didn't matter because it was headed for the trash anyway.

Agree with them being junk. I tossed mine in the trash too.

I have one on both of my helmets, and have had zero problems with it.

I'm just wondering what's so hard with running the strap through 2 D rings? IMO I think helmet quick release's are a weak link.

So don't buy one....

Edited to add....

I was wearing a F/F helmet with an Echo quick release about ten years ago when I was hit squarely in the face with a 4' piece of truck re-cap. I was doing almost 90 and it took me off of my bike and almost completely destroyed the helmet.
The helmet stayed on my head and other than bruises and road rash, I was fine...I got up and was walking around within about 5 minutes.

If that didn't make it come loose....I'm pretty confident that it's not that weak of a link.
