Default Dropped the bike last night

Well, you know the saying..there are those that have dropped their bike and those that will..well, I guess I'm official...

I've done over 7k miles this year and riden various bikes for years but never did the drop. So as I'm heading home last night I grabbed my front brake too hard ..fortunately I ended up in the grass instead of asphault....felt pretty stupid since I know very well how touchy the front brake on a sporty is...

Anyway, I'm ok, except for a couple of minor bruises. The bike is fine also but the handlebar broke clean though so I couldn't ride it home.

I was very close to home so I ended up walking back and calling a tow truck to get the bike. The local PD saw the bike, ran the tag and showed up before the tow truck - a very nice Greensboro PD officer who also rides. Anyway, I got the bike home and no real damage except the bars..thank goodness grass is soft!

Thank God you are OK and chalk this up to part of the experience. Good excuse to get custom bars.

You and the bike live to fight another day - glad you're OK. Are all Sporty front brakes dangerously touchy?

Hopefully now that you have that out of the way, you will never have another spill.
Isn't that a bit unusual to have the handlebars break like that?

I was thinking the same thing...scary that the bar could just snap like that!

Good to hear you're ok and the bikewasn't hurt any worse then that. Well look at it this way you are now a member of a long anddistinguished group ofriders that can say Yep, been their, done that, sooner or later it will happen.

Well there are two types of riders. Those like you and me and those that are still waiting to drop their rides. For me it took 45 years to get into this club. Hopefully another 45 before a repeat.
