If you can't miss a deer, is there a good spot to hit it?

The deer will hit you 99% of the time when they bolt from the road ditch or trees, If you are approaching the deer its obvious is to start slowing down, but take the nascar approach, at times they do turn and run back only to bolt again, and always remember when one or two cross there is another one waiting in the bush, other then that its all come down to sh*t house luck !

steering towards its rear might let you miss it but the majority of deer hits are them jumping directly in your path

Safety instructor once told me to hold my line, and slow down if possible. This way you give the animal a chance to avoid the impact. If you try to avoid it, then it is just up to luck as to them hitting you or not.
If you do hit them, still hold your line and do your best to continue on without laying down your bike.

Yes just hope your not riding your bike..If you have time to think about where
you are going to hit the deer using physics why not carry a blackboard and easel
to help you work things out lol

It may not make any difference where one hits a deer but not rear ending one seems to be a good idea.

No time to react...
I have hit several deer in my car and in every case, I literally had NO time to react. Deer came out of nowhere right into my path. We live in a deer infested area so I am constantly looking for eyes on the side of the road reflecting my headlights and I definitely slow down at dusk and dawn.
A couple of years ago, I was on my bike and when I came around a corner, there was a deer in the road right in front of me. Luckily, she moved quickly back off the way she came and I didn't hit her. I just don't think that it is likely you will have much (if any) time to react...

If you want to practice hitting deer you can come to my neck of the woods outside San Antonio where they breed like rabbits. They stand in the road and dare you to hit them. The vehicles around here sport decals on the front fenders for all the deer strikes.
