Default Salvage Bikes

Up here inNew England, we have a prety large motorcycle/auto salvage yard in Hookset, NH calledArgos.A friendof a friend of mine buys lots of high end sport bikes there. Some are junkers, some just have cosmetic damage. He fixes them up himself with parts he buys off of eBay. My question is, how many of you seriously consider buying a Harley from a place like this, and what are the things to lok out for? My biggest worry is that there may be something that I can't see (bent frame for example) and I get stuck with a major repair bill or an unrideable bike.

Thoughts??

Default RE: Salvage Bikes

A couple of years back I bought fixed up and sold several Salvage bikes and it was a good deal for everyone involved. That was when it was harder to get a Harley and the used bikes were bringing a good buck.
However, my insurance company, as well as many others, quit insuring bikes that were on rebuilt titles... That combined with the bottom falling out of the used bike market put me out of the hobby. For what you'll spend to buy a salvage bike & repair it you can now buy a nice used Harley, on a clean title. The market is just not what it was two years ago...
